Whole Home Wifi with Mesh Networking

Friends and family in and around Edmonton are always complaining to us about their home computer networks and why they have such poor WiFi strength. Dealing with slow wifi speeds and dead spots throughout your home and yard is frustrating. Does this sound like a familiar struggle?

Mesh networks allow multiple access points to communicate with each other thus eliminating dead spots.  Mesh networks have been available for quite some time for business class devices, but these devices were high priced and not geared toward the average home user.

Networking companies have now entered into the domain of Mesh for the home (Whole Home WiFi). With more and more individuals working from home we are in need of complete home WiFi covereage.

Mesh networking is an easy home solution. Instead of using the 1 router from your internet provider, Mesh networking provides your with multiple access points to give full home coverage.

There are a few brands that have upgraded to Mesh for the home. ASUS has updated the firmware of some of its routers to allow for integration into mesh along with releasing a new product to the lineup called LYRA. Linksys has come out with VELOP for home networks.  Another contender that we have looked at is EERO, which is in version 2 of their system.

All of these products utilize MU-MIMO technology and include tri-band WiFi. Wifi will run on 3 channels - 2.4Ghz, and 2 channels in the 5Ghz spectrum.  This gives you the fastest speeds and distance to connect with.

Pure iTek is a certified wireless technology specialist and we can provide a free in-home evaluation of your needs. If you have high speed internet in the Edmonton area and struggle with whole home wifi, please give us a call

We LOVE iPad & iPhone- for Business and Home

iPad has changed the way people work, play, watch, learn and communicate. With each new version, it's become an essential part of people's lives. iPad has been a long-standing, concrete figure in our business as well as our home.

Before iPad and iPhone:

  • Lacked real-time information at the front line
  • Relied on information from disparate sources
  • More reactive than proactive due to missing data
  • Retrieving printed documentation could take days

At Pure iTek, we are pros at iPad integration. As iOS evolves we deploy software updates and new functions to multiple generations of iOS because we know it's important to protect your investment in iPad and iPhone while productivity is uninterrupted. Pure iTek makes iOS deployment simple, fast and scaleable.

In Action with iPad and iPhone:

  • Streamlines records management and reduces costs
  • Enables teams to be proactive, rather than reactive
  • Apps optimize resource allocation and operations
  • Delivers integrated data at the front line
  • Paperless workflow streamlines office administration

The iPad Air 2 is the biggest redesign to iPad since the original iPad. It's incredibly thin, light and filled with amazing features, making it more capable than ever before. It truly represents the power of lightness.

Everything looks amazing on iPad Air 2.

  • Integrated hardware and software
  • Comprehensive security
  • Simple, scaleable deployment
  • Powerful app platform

If you have an iPad rollout Pure iTek can take over using Mobile Device Management (MDM). This allows us to seamlessly manage devices without impacting the user experience because these controls are transparent to the user.

Apple - Macs and iPads in Education

iPad technology is one of the most recent innovations schools are implementing in classrooms. This implementation has generated tremendous excitement among students.

Pure iTek is pleased to be part of the excitement. To date, Pure iTek has managed the iPad deployment at Elk Island Catholic School's new high school, Archbishop Jordan in Sherwood Park, utilizing Mobile Device Management (MDM), setup iPad profiles, and Volume Purchase Plan for Education (VPP). Last school year we had the honour of setting up a Mac Lab for an Edmonton Catholic School, Mother Margaret Mary High School.

It excites us to be on-site, powering classrooms with the most current Apple technology.

The iPad is so popular in school. During spring, 2013, I was the parent volunteer in our son's Kindergarten class at Woodbridge Farms School when iPads were introduced to the students. The teacher had me work with students individually in order to assess their familiarity with the device. (Only one student had never used an iPad, but had used her mom's phone to plays games.) The students were to demonstrate how to turn on the iPad, open an App, play the game, change the volume, close the App and turn off the iPad. At each turn, students immediately turned it on, went to the game icon I described and began to play.

New Apple technology in classrooms inspires and and engages students and Pure iTek is proud to participate.

iOS In Business

A different approach.

So what is it about iPhone and iPad that make them such a great choice for business?

First, Apple makes both the hardware and the software. Security is considered at every point - from device and data protection, through network communications, to apps. With our Apple consultant support we simplify deployment. Even for deployments into the tens of thousands. And finally, we make it possible for you to put the power of apps to work in your business, driving productivity and creating differentiation.

This approach has led to iPhone and iPad being used at work in more ways than we could have imagined...

Forward thinking.

Why You Should Passcode Protect Your iPhone

Protect your data.

Protect your data.

The answer is simple - to protect your data.

There is a bug that can bypass security in iOS 7. This bug allows anyone to disable Find My iPhone and bypass Activation Lock without a passcode. Disabling efforts don't always work and it's difficult to complete, but if someone does steal your iPhone, or if you lose your iPhone all your data can be compromised. The bug is irrelevant so long as your iPhone is passcode protected.

So to be secure, put a passcode on your iPhone and have a great weekend!
